A 1962 Mahlkönig E80 supreme, still the roaster's espresso grinder after sixty years of daily service, needed a single burnt-out grind-adjustment dial. Mahlkönig stopped making them in 1998.

Two Neumann V72 amplifiers, restored for a national studio, required seventeen Telefunken EF804S pentodes matched within three percent on transconductance. We tested eighty-four to find them.

An 1870s Auzoux wax anatomical model had worn a plaster prosthesis since a wartime repair. The library wanted its left femur back, in the correct medium, from the correct workshop, from the correct decade.
