On this piece

A GP-52/90 gearmotor from AFAG of Huttwil, Switzerland — a small maker of precision drives that folded into a larger holding company in 1998 and stopped supporting the GP series in 2005. Ninety-volt DC armature, 52:1 planetary reduction, integral tachogenerator on the rear shaft.

AFAG built these for the small-parts feeder and indexing-table market that thrived in Swiss and southern German assembly plants through the eighties. The construction is unmistakably of that place and time: brass nameplate, hand-lapped brush track, and a machined aluminum housing you could not have manufactured for the money at any point after 1990.

We've run it for two hours under proportional load. It hums.
